Alimony
When people decide to divorce, a duty of care remains between them. In a divorce, this can mean that one ex-spouse has to pay spousal support to the other. If you have children, you both remain responsible for the costs of caring for and bringing up the children, i.e. paying child support, even after the divorce.
The amount of alimony depends on several factors. On the one hand, the past is looked at to determine what the welfare was and therefore what the need is. On the other hand, the future situation is used to determine whether there is room (capacity) to pay child support.
When a business is involved, factors other than 'income' can also play a role in determining the amount of alimony. For example, how a business is valued may play a role, but the expected available profit (or loss) also plays a role.
We are highly experienced in getting to the bottom of these factors and will be happy to advise you on any alimony in your personal situation. Challenge us to arrive at an optimal outco0me for you.
