International family inheritance law

Family law

If you decide to marry abroad, or if one or both of you live abroad, or if (one of) the spouses has a foreign nationality, or if there are assets abroad, a different law than Dutch law may apply.

In international law of persons and family inheritance, it is very important to first determine on the basis of which law a dispute should be resolved or an agreement legally established. Which court has jurisdiction to hear and decide it? What legal consequences can a decision have? We are happy to advise and guide you through these international issues. This can prevent you from (unpleasant) surprises afterwards.

Inheritance law

We are also happy to advise you on international inheritance law. When the deceased has a different nationality than the country of his/her last place of residence, or when the deceased has assets elsewhere in the world than in the country of his/her last place of residence, it is important to establish which country's law applies, and if so to which law. We will be happy to advise you in that case.
